Did you ever run into a problem where you are overwhelmed by skincare ingredients or overused skincare products? If the answer is yes, then you have come to the right place! Well, because I personally ran into that problem, too. I used the skincare products like toner, essence, serum, physical and chemical mask, etc. with the hope that they would work on me, but end up overused them. But today, we are here to solve that problem.
Quick background: I was obsessed with beauty products where I tried to follow the 10 steps Korean skincare routine but only to find that it’s too overwhelming for me. The problem was I started using everything too fast and all at the same time, and my skin couldn’t handle it. My skin became very dry and sensitive, where I got a few acne breakouts, which I usually don’t have a problem with. So I started to research what I can do to rescue my damaged skin, and then I came across the #PressReset challenge by KraveBreauty.
What is KraveBeauty?
Krave Beauty was found by Liah Yoo, a beauty influencer who is known for sharing skincare tips on YouTube with the goal, “to help you #PressReset on your skincare routine and all the noise from the beauty industry. A place that really cares about our skin instead of just profits.” I personally follow Liah because I love how she gives honest reviews to help viewers be more informed about skincare products. She also offers many useful knowledge and tips about skincare ingredients. Besides, she has the same skin type as mine – combination/oily, so I thought, why don’t I give try for products created by someone who had dealt with the same problems I’m having.
What’s the #PressResetChallenge and why should I join it?
The #PressResetChallenge is a 30-day challenge that helps you get in tune with your skin’s true cravings and empowers you to practice conscious, intuitive, and intentional skincare. The goal is for you to cut down your skincare routine to the basic essentials of cleansing, moisturizing, and protecting and gives your skin a chance to recover due to product overload.
Back to my personal story, so I started to cut down everything slowly and only do minimal steps that I think is necessary as follow:
1. I reduced all my skincare steps to the basic essentials of cleansing, toning, treating (only when needed for my acne), moisturizing, and using sunscreen.
2. I also cut back on physical and chemical exfoliating from two to three times a week to only one physical exfoliating a week.
3. I stopped using actives ingredients and treatments every day, including AHAs & BHAs, Benzoyl Peroxide, etc.
4. I kept a skincare schedule and tried to stick with it!
My current AM and PM routines:
Step 1- Cleansing with a gentle, non-foaming cleansing gel from Krave Beauty – Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser
Step 2- Vitamin C serum
Step 3- Moisturizing
Step 4- Sunscreen, even if it’s cloudy or raining.
Step 1- Double cleanse/cleanse as I wear sunscreen
Step 2- Soothing serum targeting spots and hyperpigmentation from KraveBeauty – Great Barrier Relief
Step 3- Spot Treatment for acne only when necessary
Step 4- Moisturizer + add oil if my skin is too dry
KraveBeauty products review: I love how the Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser is super gentle for the skin but also strong enough to get into my pores and clean any impurities. It’s very moisturizing that doesn’t leave my skin feel dry or tight. The Matcha smells wonderful, and who doesn’t love Matcha? However, I found that the Great Barrier Relief is my favorite product and discovered that niacinamide is one of the must-haves ingredients in my skincare. Firstly, I love the texture of the product as it’s not too liquidly like some other niacinamide serums but not as thick like a cream but more like a gel/lightweight lotion that can act as a moisturizer sometimes which is suitable for combination/oily skin. Secondly, one of the main ingredients- niacinamide is perfect for my hyperpigmentation and acne scars/complexion brightening. Lastly, it’s a 100% vegan-friendly and cruelty-free products that go into a great cause, which 2% of every purchase of the Great Barrier Relief will be donated to help protect the Great Barrier Reef.
Results: It has been over a month since I started following this routine and using KraveBeauty products, and my skin is slowly recovering. My acne scars and pigmentation are fading away, and I only get the occasional hormonal breakout but no more redness or any irritation. I’m super happy about my purchases and recommended for those who are overwhelmed by skincare products and ingredients like me.
I hope you find this helpful, and I hope to share my detailed skincare routine soon. Meanwhile, I would love to learn about your skincare routine and how you keep it minimal.
Until next time,
